LIVINGSTON, Ala. – As the University of West Alabama football team begins to conclude spring practice, the Tigers will take to the field Friday and Saturday with a 90-play scrimmage at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.
“It’s been a tough time getting practices in with the weather,” UWA Head Coach Bobby Wallace said. “We’ve tried to keep a routine, but the weather has played havoc with our schedule. That being said, we’ve got some good work in. The guys are putting in the effort, especially on the defensive side and learning a new system.”
UWA wraps up its NCAA mandated 15 allotted practices on Saturday, Mar. 20 with the Red and White game as part of Super Tiger Day festivities. Kickoff is set for 12:00 p.m.
Wallace and his staff look build upon an impressive 2009 campaign that led to a second round berth in the NCAA Division II Football Championship. Wallace and staff brought in ten newcomers at mid semester that will get a jumpstart by going through spring practice. The Tiger defense will be under new guidance as Robert Henry brings 31 years of experience to Livingston. In the 15 practices, UWA will install Henry’s system and finding the right personnel.
