LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama returns to the diamond on Saturday, Mar. 20 as UWA (14-8) hosts Lambuth in a non-conference, three-game series. First game of the Saturday doubleheader is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.

The weekend series will be broadcasted on ESPN 104.9 FM and at www.uwaathletics.com. Live stats and a live video stream will also be available on the UWA’s official athletic website.

The Tigers look to return to the win column after dropping a GSC series at UAH last weekend. The Red and White forced a split of the weekend set with a 7-6 win in the night cap of the twinbill, but fell 10-3 on Sunday to give the Chargers their first series over UWA since 2004.

The Red and White and LU (22-5) have met once previously to this weekend’s three game set. UWA turned back the Eagles 12-9 on Apr. 14, 2008.

Colin McKeen leads the Tigers in batting average through 22 games as the Orangeville, Ontario-native has tallied a .382 batting clip. Kevin Deese leads the team in hits (32) and RBI (24). The Fosters, Ala.-junior has recorded 18 extra base hits, including 11 doubles, two triples and five homeruns; all team bests. The doubles (tied 2nd) and homeruns (tied 5th) rank among the leaders in the Gulf South Conference. Josh Varner paces the Tiger pitching staff. The Brandon, Miss.-junior has tallied a 1.98 ERA and is holding the opposition’s batters to a .222 average. Cory Lopez leads the Tiger hurlers in strikeouts with 33. Moses Munoz, Kasey Nafzger and Colter Millican have also posted 20-plus strikeouts this season. Munoz is ranked eighth in the conference in ERA with a 3.34.

LU (22-5) enters the weekend having won 10 of its last 11 outings, including four straight. The Eagles last loss came on Mar. 12, a 3-2 setback to Asbury College. The Blue and White, which are out scoring opponents 272-72, lead the NAIA in batting average with a .397 batting clip. Mike Davis paces LU with a .511 batting average and 46 RBI. Brent Ebinger is among the top pitchers for LU. Ebinger leads the team with 41 strikeouts and has posted a 0.58 ERA along with a 5-1 record.
