LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama volleyball program will host its inaugural alumni volleyball match on Saturday, March 20, to jumpstart Super Tiger Day activities at 10 a.m. at Pruitt Hall. Approximately 40 former players will return to Livingston, including six All Gulf South Conference performers.

The teams will be split between former players and current members of the Tiger squad. Following the match, there will be a cookout prior to the football scrimmage.

“I am very excited about the alumni coming back to campus,” said UWA head coach Tabitha Turner. “These ladies have laid the ground work of our program. We hope this will be a yearly event.”

Two-time All GSC selections Melanie Moffett, Amanda Heaton and Ana Gabriela Pedrosa will be apart of the alumni festivities along with UWA’s first GSC Freshman of the Year, Elizabeth Colley. Colley claimed the award in 2003. Moffett recorded 1,704 digs from 2002-05 to claim the top spot on UWA’s career digs chart. Heaton, who also served as an assistant coach under Ron Arenz in 2007, ranks third all-time in kills with 997. Pedrosa finished up her career last fall after guiding UWA to a 30-8 overall record and a share of the GSC East Division crown. The 1990 GSC Coach of the Year, Janet Montgomery will participate in the event. Other All GSC selections returning are Erica Britton, Christy Ricks and Jordan Kent. Ricks owns UWA’s all-time assist record with 3,612 assists.
