LIVINGSTON, Ala. – After dropping its first two home games of the season last Sunday, the University of West Alabama softball team continues its current homestand on Wednesday, hosting NCAA Division III opponent Millsaps College. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. at the UWA Softball Complex.

Through the first six games of the 12-game homestand, the Tigers are 4-2 with sweeps over Miles College and West Georgia. UWA (25-13) dropped a pair of games to nationally-ranked UAH in its last outing. After the midweek outing against the Majors of MC (13-9), the Tigers return to Gulf South Conference action during the holiday weekend. UWA will face GSC foes West Florida and Valdosta State on Friday and Saturday respectively. Friday's two-game set is scheduled for Noon.
Wednesday will be the fourth attempt between UWA and MC to meet as the first two attempts were re-scheduled due to snow and rain, while last week's meeting in Jackson, Miss. was moved to April 20.
In the last six games, the Tigers are hitting over .300 and have scored 32 runs on 48 hits. Junior outfielder Lindsey Skinner and shortstop Kelli Hartley have collected a team-best seven hits in the past six games. Skinner has hit safely in the last four games, including back-to-back 2-for-3 performances against UAH. Junior centerfielder Jessica Powell has six hits, including three doubles, a triple and one home run.
Junior Katie Ford leads the pitching staff with an 18-3 overall mark and a 2.99 earned run average. The Garden City, Kan.-native ranks third in the league in strikeouts with 125. Hannah Billingsley has recorded four wins in the circle this season along with 38 strikeouts.
