Tigers Trounce Talladega in Sweep

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama baseball team scored early and often as the UWA (13-6) trounced Talladega College, 20-1, to sweep the weekend series from the Tornadoes. The 20 runs mark a season-high and are the most since Mar. 4, 2008, a 20-6 win over the University of Arkansas at Monticello.

The Tigers pounded out a season-high 22 hits and plated a run in each inning with the exception of a scoreless third en route to the victory. The Red and White posted multiple runs in five innings, including a six run, seventh inning.

Colter Millican (2-1) grabbed the victory on the mound with six, scoreless innings of work. The Brighton, Tenn.-native recorded three strikeouts with a pair of walks while allowing six hits.

Kevin Deese went 4-for-5 at the dish with three RBI and three runs scored. Lige Mitchell led UWA in RBI with four as he went 3-for-6 from the dish. Brian Simone, Jody Morgan, Clint Brown and Clint Alford also tallied multiple hits and multiple RBI in the outing. Jay Jennings also garnered two RBI in the effort.

James Rodriquez (0-1) took the loss on the mound for TC, allowing eight runs on eight hits in four innings of action.

The weekend sweep is the first for the Red and White since the Tigers took three from West Georgia last season.

West Alabama returns to action on Wednesday, Mar. 10 as UWA travels to Stillman for regional action. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
