BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The University of West Alabama baseball team swept Gulf South Conference East Division All Decade Honors, as announced by the conference office.

“We are extremely pleased to have these three men honored on the GSC East All-Decade Team,” said UWA Director of Athletics
Dr. E. J. Brophy. “Tiger baseball has been phenomenal for decades and our divisional, conference and regional titles over the years re-enforce that fact. Coach Gary Rundles is the architect that made these accolades possible and Rob Dahlberg and Brandon Dill are two of the best ever to don the red and white. We congratulate and appreciate all three of them."

Head Coach Gary Rundles nabbed GSC East Division Coach of the Decade honors while leading the program to six consecutive GSC Tournaments, including the 2005 championship, four NCAA Regional appearances, two East Division crowns, made three-straight GSC Championship Game appearances. Rundles was also named the 2005 GSC Coach of the Year.

“I’m extremely proud of the guys who have been recognized this week by the Gulf South Conference. Although I am proud of their many accomplishments on the baseball field, I am doubly proud of the character they showed as they represented their school and since they have become members of society in general,” Rundles stated.

Former All-Americans Rob Dahlberg and Brandon Dill were among five unanimous selections on the GSC East First Team and were also named Player and Pitcher of Decade respectively.

Dahlberg recorded one of the most successful four-year careers in GSC history. Dahlberg earned East Freshman of the Year honors in 2006 and was a four-time All-GSC selection, including three-straight All-GSC First Team accolades from his sophomore through his senior seasons. The Gilbertown, Ala.-native was also a two-time All-America and was named the 2008 GSC East Division Player of the Year.

Dill finished his career with a 22-2 record, a 3.31 ERA, 166 strikeouts and just 44 walks in over 200 innings pitched. The Columbus, Miss.-product was a First Team All-GSC member and was named the 2008 Rawlings/ABCA South Central Region Pitcher of the Year while earning Third Team All-America honors.

“Brandon is very deserving of the honor he received. His work ethic and determination made him the successful player he was for the Tigers. I was privileged to have him be a part of our program during his career here. Rob also proved himself to be totally deserving of the honor bestowed upon him. He had a career second to none, breaking numerous records along the way. He is truly one of the best overall players I have ever coached,” Rundles continued. “I am grateful for the honor to which I have been named. I receive it on behalf of all the players, coaches and administrators that worked so hard to make this program what it is today.”
