BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Three players from the University of West Alabama have been named to the 2013 Women's Tennis All-Conference Team.
Jill Furlong,
Helga Jeske and
Dasha Popova were named to the All-GSC second team as voted on by league coaches.
Furlong posted a 17-7 record in singles and was 16-12 in doubles. Jeske was 15-10 in singles and 20-8 as a doubles player, while Popova finished the season 14-8 in singles and 19-7 in doubles. This is Popova's second selection to the All-GSC second team. West Alabama finished its season with a 19-9 record and advanced to the semi-finals of the GSC Tournament.
Six schools landed at least one player on the first or second team. West Florida's Monika Kochanova was named GSC Player of the Year, while her UWF teammate Nina Bubelova was tabbed GSC Freshman of the Year.
West Florida's Derrick Racine claimed his third consecutive GSC Coach of the Year award.
