LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama tennis teams will begin the fall schedule this weekend with split-squad action at Thomasville, Georgia and Clinton, Mississippi.
Part of the program will make the trip to Georgia for the Thomasville Collegiate Invitational on Friday through Sunday, while the other half of the team heads to Mississippi College for its fall tournament on Friday and Saturday.
The first two tournaments of the fall will look to prepare West Alabama for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regional Championships from Sept. 22-25. Florida Southern College will be hosting the event in Lakeland.
UWA will host a fall tournament on Oct. 6-7 in Livingston and will next go to West Florida for their fall bash on Oct. 20-22 in Pensacola.
The fall schedule concludes Nov. 3-5 with the Gulf South Conference's Fall Open in Montgomery. UWA has seen success at this event as it returns to the schedule for the first time since 2021. The Tigers took victories at Flight C Singles in and Flight A in doubles on the women's side. The men's squad also took Flight C Singles and Flight A doubles in 2021.
The UWA men's team concluded the 2022-23 season with a ranking of No. 19 in the ITA Division II National Rankings, while the women finished sixth.
Individual rankings for the 2023-24 season are scheduled to be announced on Nov. 15, and the first team rankings are slated to be released on Jan. 17, 2024.
