#16 Men's Tennis

UWA Tennis Set for Season Opener

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama men's and women's tennis teams take to the court for the first time this season on Saturday as they travel to Hickory, N.C., to take on Lenoir Rhyne.

Both teams are slated to begin action at 8 a.m. Saturday with each squad playing a round of doubles followed by the six-court singles round.

The Tiger men's team enters the 2012 season after going 14-9 a season ago. UWA looks to duplicate an impressive run against non-conference competition last year as the Tigers held a 14-5 mark against teams residing outside of the Gulf South Conference.

On the women's side, UWA enters the 2012 season after going 17-9 in 2011. The Tigers are led by Angy Cuellar who has amassed 24 singles wins during her career.

Following Saturday's action, UWA travels to Tuskegee, Ala., to take on Tuskegee in a pair of matches on Feb. 7 starting at 1 p.m.
