Milton Johnson, a native of Marianna, Fla., played basketball at West Alabama from 1951-53. He played under Jim Homer and was known as an outstanding scorer and defensive star. He went on to coach at Campbellton (Fla.) High School in 1955 where he had a six-year record of 173-29 and won three Class C State Championships. His 1959 squad finished 37-0 and he once had a 55-game winning streak. Johnson then moved on to Chipola Junior College where he spent 31 seasons and compiled a 604-319 record. He has won six Florida Community College Athletic Association (FCCA) State Championships and was in the original class of the Florida Community College Hall of Fame in 1990.  He won the FCCAA “Coach of the Year” honor four times, the Region VIII “Coach of the Year” award six times and the FCCAA Division “Coach of the Year” honor nine times. He was also inducted in to the UWA Society of The Golden Key in 1992.
